IceCon is a science fiction, fantasy, horror and comic fan convention that will be held in Reykjavik on the weekend of the 5th to 7th of October 2018.
This is the second time Icelandic science fiction and fantasy fans organize a fan convention. The first IceCon conference was held in 2016, when 100 people from all over the world met in Reykjavík.
We want to include everyone and to see to it that this is a great experience for all. So if you have any questions or you want to lend us a hand, please contact us at icecon.reykjavik(at)gmail.com.
IceCon 2018 is supported by the City of Reykjavík.
Program
The program will be in English and will be mostly literature oriented, but it is our hope to offer panels about other subjects too. To make that a reality, we will need people to talk about those subjects so if you are knowledgeable about a fan related subject, let us know via email.
The program will start on Friday evening on the 5th of October 2018 with a bar meet. This will be followed with a day of panels and a party on Saturday, lunch and a half a day of panels on Sunday. You can get more information about the program here and if you want to participate, please let us know by writing to us at icecon.reykjavik(at)gmail.com.
Travel to Iceland
This is a small convention that is located in the middle of the Atlantic. So if you have friends across the pond (as they say in the UK) IceCon is a great opportunity to meet up with old friends, make some new ones and generally have a good time.
So, if you want to meet the Icelandic fan community, see our unique nature and maybe get a glimpse of the northern lights, register here.
Information about traveling to Iceland can be found here.
Registration Fees
The price of registration is 60 Euros, with the option to add a hangover lunch on Sunday for 25 Euros.
Students get a 20 Euro student discount, and children under the age of 12 can attend for free with their parents.
Registration fees can be paid via PayPal, or through your bank institution if you have an Icelandic bank account. Further information will be sent to you by e-mail once you register for the conference!
Code of Conduct
IceCon 2018 has a code of conduct. Please read it here before registering for the conference.
Accommodation
Unfortunately, we’ve not been able to get special rates at hotels for IceCon members, due to exploding tourism; there is no off-season in Iceland anymore. But there are plenty of good hotels and hostels in Reykjavík with acceptable rates. We recommend that you book early!
Venue
IceCon 2018 takes place at Iðnó, a theater in the heart of Reykjavík. The designated bar is Klaustur Bar, located only 50 meters from Iðnó.
