We are happy to announce that the venue of our IceCon 2024 convention will be Veröld – House of Vigdís or Veröld – hús Vigdísar in Icelandic. This is the same venue as in 2021.
It is easily accessible on foot, by bus, or by car, and there are plenty of parking spaces in the area. The address is Brynjólfsgata 1 but typing Veröld into your navigation system should bring you to the right location.
If you take the bus then line 12 (blue on the map) stops directly in front of Veröld. However the bus stop Háskóli Íslands is very close by and line 1, 3 and 6 stop there. In addition lines number 11 (Hagatorg) and 15 (Stúdentagarðar) also stop nearby so there are plenty of options.
Veröld – House of Vigdís is a recent addition to the University of Iceland facilities and is named after our former president Vigdís Finnbogadóttir who was the first democratically elected female head of state in the world and we are immensely proud of.
Veröld hosts the faculty of Languages and Culture and we think it is a perfect location for our convention. This venue is in the campus area which has a really nice student bar – Stúdentakjallarinn (the Studen Cellar)- across the street from Veröld and it is close to the town centre. The evening venue, and the venue for Sunday lunch is Stúdentakjallarinn.
