We are excited to announce that the guest of honor at IceCon 2018 is the award-winning American fantasy author Naomi Novik!

Novik is the author of the fantasy series Temeraire, retelling the story of the Napoleonic wars with dragons. The first novel of the series, Temeraire, was published in 2006 and won the Compton Crook Award for best first novel in the science fiction and fantasy category.  Since then, eight other novels have been published in the series, the latest being League of Dragons published in 2016. Novik was awarded the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer for best new science fiction writer of 2006 and nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 2007.

The first two novels of the Temeraire series have been translated into Icelandic by Helga Soffía Einarsdóttir, Dreki hans hátignar and Hásæti keisarans.

In 2015, Novik published her first stand-alone novel, Uprooted, a fantasy novel spun from Polish fairy tales. Uprooted was awarded the Nebula Award for Best Novel and the Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel.

Novik is an advocate for fandom and is an emeritus member of the board of the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW), a nonprofit organization run by and for fans to provide access to and preserve the history of fanworks and fan cultures.
